Self-described as a "Scenic Excursion Train," the Lake Superior & Mississippi Railroad offers scenic tours along the shoreline of the St. Louis River estuary. Guests ride in 80-year-old coaches as a skilled guide narrates the history of the area and the railroad company, which has been in existence since the 1860s. Wildlife sightings are abundant along the ride, which departs from a station just south of downtown, across from the Lake Superior Zoo.
Trains operate early Jun - early Oct: daily 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Adults $9.25; Children $6.25; Children 3 and under are free.
